Thor amboinensis - Hohlkreuzgarnele Sexy Shrimp
Thor amboinensis, commonly known as the Sexy Shrimp or Anemone Shrimp, is one of the most popular shrimp species in marine aquariums. With its characteristic tail-waving behavior and elegant markings, it immediately draws attention in any reef tank. Due to its small size and active nature, it is especially suitable for nano and reef aquariums.
- Origin: Indo-Pacific – from East Africa and the Maldives to Japan and Polynesia
- Maximum size: about 2 cm
- Temperature: 24–27 °C (75–81 °F)
- Diet: Fine frozen and granular food, detritus, leftover food
- Behavior: Very peaceful; often lives in pairs or small groups
- Special feature: Forms close symbiotic relationships with anemones (e.g. Entacmaea quadricolor), cleaning them of debris and food remains
- Minimum tank size: From 30 L (approx. 8 gal)
Thor amboinensis is a captivating and useful addition to any marine aquarium. When kept in small groups, it displays its natural social behavior and interacts beautifully with host anemones. Its peaceful disposition makes it ideal for community reef tanks with other shrimp, small fish, and corals.

Nice sexy shrimp, would have wanted more
I originally came to order sexy shrimp because of the discount offers for larger numbers, but after placing the order I found out that only 3 were available. They are fine and all are doing well, but they were also smaller and less bright in colour than my other sexy shrimp. No problems though.
