Originally from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean as well as from Belize and Cuba, these disc anemones stands out due to their wonderful, radient colours. Ricordea Florida feed via photosynthesis stored in the anemone, single-celled algae (Zooxanthellae).

Maintenance, water flow and lighting for Ricordea florida
Ricordea are the Eye-Catcher in every aquarium
These species of invertebrates should be best maintained in the area having low water flow and increased nutritional values. Ricordea Florida feels comfortable both in strong as well as low lighting with a T5 lamp and are well suited to be kept in a nano-reef aquarium. Ricordea Florida can reach a diameter of 4-10 cm.n
Lightening for Ricordea florida
The aquarium lighting should not be changed too quickly, Ricordea Florida should firstly adapt to changes of light intensity. In higher light intensity, the Caribbean –disc anemones increases faster. Especially exciting and fascinating is the conduct shown by symbiotic shrimps which cohabitates with these corals. This makes Ricordea Florida an extraordinary and interesting eye-catcher in the aquarium.
Fixing Ricordea florida
To fix Ricordea Florida you can use coral glue by White Corals. Then put some glue to the substrate rock under the Caribbean –disc anemone and stick to the nano-reef aquarium rock. You can easily press the separated polyps without substrate rock to the desired location with the foot disc. Ricordea Florida produces a secretion which helps the corals to cling to the rock. Ricordeas which are not fixed, best is to set them at a less water flown location so that the corals can fix it with its feet.
