Centropyge acanthops - Flameback Angelfisch
Centropyge acanthops – Orangeback Pygmy Angelfish
The Orangeback Pygmy Angelfish (Centropyge acanthops) is a colorful and lively inhabitant of the marine aquarium. With its deep blue body and striking orange back, it adds vibrant contrast to any reef tank. This dwarf angelfish is native to the Indian Ocean, where it is commonly found in rocky and coral-rich habitats, usually living in pairs or small groups.
Reaching a maximum size of around 8 cm, Centropyge acanthops is well suited for medium to large aquariums. It is an active swimmer that regularly grazes on algae and biofilm between rocks and corals. When fed a varied diet including frozen foods and algae-based preparations, it proves hardy and easy to keep, although it may occasionally nip at corals. A well-structured tank with plenty of hiding spots is therefore recommended.
