Protopalythoa Purple Death
Palythoa is a rarely seen Zoanthid. It is easy to distinguish because the polyps are embedded in a thick basal, tisuue in which they can fully retract. Only seldomly in the trade, mostly as a blind passenger on substrate rocks. Skin has a sandpapery feel, tentacle ends are pointed.
As with Zoanthus and Protopalythoa, their tissue and secretions can be poisonous. Avoid getting it in mucous membranes, eyes and open wounds, and wear gloves and protective goggles especially when handling them roughly, e.g. when fragging them.
