Christmas Tree Worm are often overgrown by corals like Porites, Cyphastrea, Montipora, Pavona, etc. Often whole colonies form and are known as "Multicolor Rocks" due to the many-colored varieties of Spirobranchus giganteus. Sometimes empty tubes may be housing filtrating hermit crabs (Paguritta spp.) as well. They need be fed with plankton and obviously should not be kept with invertebrate-eating butterflyfish (especially Chelmon and Forcipiger species).
