PTERAPOGON KAUDERNI - BANGGAI CARDINAL (AQUACULTURED)
The Banggai Cardinal (Pterapogon kauderni) is a beautiful fish that’s also because of its great popularity in marine aquaristics among the most threatened fish species in ist natural habitat. In other areas where it was artifcially introduced it’s close to becoming a pest. They are quite easy to breed, so natural populations can be protected - for this reason our Banggai Cardinalfish are captive bred.
The fish ist about 8 - 10 cm tall in adult state und has a coloration with black, white, gray and silver elements. In general it’s easy to care and can be bred easily in the home aquarium.
Banggai Cardinal Fishs feel well in aquariums that have a minimum capacity of 200 litres and a water temperature between 24 and 26°C. In addition enough hiding places should be present. As feed for the carnivores frozen and live food (e.g. Artemia, Bosminids, lobster eggs, mosquito larvae) is suitable.
Pterapogon kauderni are quiet animals that don’t swim around much and are peaceful towards other marine fish. However, with increasing age they can be kind of aggressive towards conspecifics, for this reason only young animals should be kept in groups. Keeping them as pair is easily possible.
