Corals

Caulastrea, Blastomussa, and Duncanopsammia are popular LPS corals (Large Polyp Stony Corals). Their versatility and relatively easy care make them suitable for both beginners and experienced aquarists.
Care and Maintenance
- Caulastrea (commonly known as Candy Cane Coral) prefers moderate lighting and gentle to moderate water flow that softly moves its long tentacles. It thrives in lower areas of the aquarium and comes in various colors, from teal to neon green.
- Blastomussa stands out with its large, fleshy polyps in intense shades of red, orange, and green. It prefers low lighting and weak water flow to protect its delicate polyps.
- Duncanopsammia, often called Duncan Coral, grows in colonies with flower-like polyps and prefers moderate lighting and moderate water flow. It is highly adaptable and known for its rapid growth.
Feeding and Care Tips
All three species benefit from photosynthesis through zooxanthellae but should also be regularly fed with fine particulate food such as plankton or micro-particles to promote optimal growth and vibrant colors.
Caulastrea, Blastomussa, and Duncanopsammia are ideal LPS corals for marine aquariums. With their relatively easy care requirements and adaptable nature, they add vibrant splashes of color for both novice and experienced reef aquarists alike.
