Corals

Heteractis, Macrodactyla, Heterodactyla, and Condylactis are among the most popular anemones in marine aquaristics. Their extraordinary colors and diverse shapes make them captivating attractions in any reef aquarium. An exciting feature is their potential symbiosis with clownfish, creating a dynamic and lively atmosphere.
Care and Maintenance
- Heteractis prefers intense lighting and moderate to strong water flow. It anchors itself securely on live rock and occasionally moves to find the ideal spot.
- Macrodactyla is known for its long tentacles and requires a sandy or rocky substrate to anchor securely. It thrives under medium water flow and intense lighting.
- Heterodactyla is less common in aquariums but requires stable water parameters and moderate lighting. It prefers sheltered areas within the reef.
- Condylactis is particularly hardy and adaptable. It favors intense lighting and variable water flow, often moving to find the optimal location.
Feeding and Care Tips
All four species are zooxanthellae carriers and derive their energy from photosynthesis. For optimal growth, additional feeding with plankton or small food particles is recommended.
Heteractis, Macrodactyla, Heterodactyla, and Condylactis are ideal anemones for marine aquariums. Their stunning colors and unique symbiotic relationships with clownfish bring vibrancy and natural beauty to any aquarium.
