Nemateleotris magnifica - Firefish
NEMATELEOTRIS MAGNIFICA - FIREFISH
Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) are a real eye-catcher due to their vibrant red rump. They are 7 - 9 cm tall when adult state and so also suitable for smaller tanks (from 200 litres).
In general the fish are very shy and that’s why enough hiding places in the aquarium are essential. For the same reason it should be avoided to keep the Firefish with very dominant animals. The water temperature should be between 22 and 27°C.
Towards other saltwater fish Firefish behave peacefully but among groups there may be rivalries. For this reason it‘s not recommended to keep them in groups, the safest way is to keep them alone, but keeping them as pairs can also work.
Nemateleotris magnifica eat both frozen and live foods (e.g. Artemia, Cyclops, lobster eggs, mosquito larvae, Mysis) as well as flakes and granulated foods.
