Nardoa sp., commonly known as the Olive Green Sea Star, is a striking and beautifully patterned starfish species from the Indo-Pacific region. Its sturdy body with five broad arms displays shades of olive green to brown, often highlighted with lighter spots and intricate markings. Moving slowly across rocks and substrate, it feeds on Asterina star fish which are often a pest in reef tanks.
- Origin: Indo-Pacific – including Indonesia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea
- Maximum size: around 12–15 cm in diameter
- Temperature: 24–27 °C (75–81 °F)
- Diet: Asterina star fish, Biofilm, detritus, leftover food, microorganisms
- Behavior: Peaceful, slow-moving, mostly nocturnal
- Special feature: Good against Asterina pests, sensitive to changes in salinity and oxygen levels
