GOBIODON HISTRIO - BROAD-BARRED GOBY
The Broad-Barred Goby (Gobiodon histrio) is one of the few ornamental fish that can be kept in nano aquariums (from 60 litres) due to their small size (5 - 7 cm in adult state). Characteristic for this coral goby is the blue-green color with reddish dots and stripes.
In general Gobiodon histrio are very easy to care and feed while they eat both frozen and live foods (e.g. Artemia, Bosminids, lobster eggs, Mysis) as well as flakes and granulated foods. An interesting feature is that Broad-Barred Gobies produce mucus in their skin to protect themselves from predators.
In groups, especially among males, there may be rivalries, therefore it’s not recommended to keep them in groups. However it’s quite possible to keep them alone or as pairs.
As the name suggests the coral goby mainly stays in or on corals - so enough of these should exist in the aquarium. The water should have a temperature between 22 and 28°C.
