The Neckband Blenny is a small and very active member of the blenny family, appreciated for its lively behavior and distinctive appearance. The species is named after the dark, neckband-like marking behind the head, which contrasts nicely with the lighter body coloration. Like other Ecsenius species, Ecsenius minutus is alert and curious, often using rock crevices and small caves as shelter.
This species is primarily diurnal and spends much of the day grazing on algae and biofilm from rocks and reef structures. It is constantly on the move without appearing overly aggressive or hectic, making it an engaging addition to well-structured reef aquariums.
Origin: Indo-Pacific, coral reefs and rocky reef zones.
Aquarium size: Recommended from approximately 200 liters, with ample rockwork and hiding spaces.
