product description
Cirripectes stigmaticus - Red-streaked Blenny
The Red-spotted Blenny is a small but characterful member of the blenny family, appreciated for its red spotting and engaging behavior. Typical for the genus Cirripectes, this species lives close to the substrate, preferring crevices, small caves, and gaps between rocks or corals from which it observes its surroundings. Despite its modest size, the Red-spotted Blenny shows confident behavior and actively defends its preferred area.
Cirripectes stigmaticus is primarily diurnal and regularly leaves its hiding places to graze on algae and biofilm from rock surfaces. The species is well suited for naturally structured reef aquariums that provide ample shelter and territory options.
Origin: Indo-Pacific, shallow reef zones, coastal reefs, and lagoons.
Aquarium size: Recommended from approximately 200 liters, with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces.
Behavior: Territorial, alert, and curious, usually site-attached.
Compatibility: Suitable with peaceful fishes; may be aggressive toward similar blenny species.
Diet: Omnivorous; feeds on algae, biofilm, frozen foods, and finely chopped meaty items.
Special characteristics: Displays interesting territorial behavior; ideal for well-structured reef aquariums.
Summary:
Cirripectes stigmaticus is a lively and hardy blenny suitable for small to medium-sized marine aquariums. With proper structure and compatible tankmates, it is an attractive and easy-to-care-for addition.
