Heteractis malu is an anemone from the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific. Its range is disjunct and includes the coasts of Thailand, Maylaysia, Indonesia and Australia as well as the South Sea Islands in the Pacific including Hawaii. It is quite rare in the trade and difficult to distinguish from other Heteractis species - in the scientific field, for example, nowadays only DNA tests are used to identify anemones - but especially their very small size of around 20 cm max makes them extremely desirable. They are symbiose anemones, but have Amphiprion clarkii as their only natural Clownfish partner, as well as juvenile Dascyllus trimaculatus or the Hawaiian endemic Dascyllus albisella. Normal coloration is creamy white or brown with purple, brown or green tips.
